We recently had the honor of performing some much-needed repairs to the home of Ray Chavez, who, at 105 years young, is the oldest living Pearl Harbor veteran. His daughter, Kathleen, is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. She was the Navy’s first female jet mechanic, working on the F-14 Tomcats beginning in 1974. She owns the home her father lives in.
Inspired by Ray and Kathleen’s service, two of Habitat’s local subcontractors stepped up to help. Eagle Paving repaved nearly 3,000 square feet of asphalt driveway. Davey Tree Service removed a large pine tree and trimmed four oak trees in front of the home. Both companies heavily discounted their labor and materials, and saved Habitat nearly $10,000 in total! Thank you!
