The Veteran Repair Program of San Diego Habitat for Humanity addresses critical health and safety issues in the homes of veterans, enabling them to remain in their homes and age-in-place. Due to the pandemic, in-home repair projects are currently on hold, but as we face hotter temperatures in San Diego County this month, Habitat would like to send a friendly reminder to be prepared by having a plan in case of wildfires.
John, a veteran of the United States Army, recently partnered with Habitat to complete repairs on his home, which is located within a wildfire zone — fire season brings great risks for his family. Habitat’s Veteran Repair Program helped install fire-proof siding on the exterior walls of the home, which will keep John and his family safer during fire season and preserve the longevity of their home.
With wildfires raging across the state this fire season, we hope you will take a moment to see how you can protect your home from fire damage, and keep your family safe. View ReadySanDiego.org’s Wildfire Preparedness Guide here.
