Earlier this month, San Diego Habitat united with fellow colleagues from various Habitat affiliates across the state in a powerful display of advocacy at Habitat for Humanity California’s 13th Annual Advocacy Day. Nearly 100 dedicated advocates engaged in meaningful discussions with the Governor’s office, as well as almost every California State Senator and Assemblymember.
The primary focus of these discussions was a critical request to reinstate $152.5M to CalHome. This proposed budget cut in the 24-25 budget cycle threatens to eliminate CalHome, which is the sole state funding source for the production of affordable homes for purchase. Our collective efforts aim to safeguard and enhance opportunities for affordable homeownership across California.
