Eleanor will be 80 this year. She lives alone in her home and has dealt with a variety of health challenges, but makes it a point to join her church’s choir practice once a month. Staying on top of her yard work has been challenging, so she reached out to Habitat for help.
Sixteen volunteers (including one future Habitat homeowner) spent a total of 78 hours removing badly damaged fencing and broken tiles from the exterior of Eleanor’s home. They built two new gates, trimmed the landscape to clear the yard, and repaired the house’s crawl space vent covers.
One of Eleanor’s neighbors saw Habitat working on her home, looked us up online, registered to volunteer, and joined us at the site a few days later. The spirit of community is so powerful!
