June is National Homeownership Month! At San Diego Habitat for Humanity, we are unwavering in our mission to create affordable homeownership opportunities because we believe it is the critical foundation families need for stability and self-reliance. For 35 years, we’ve been building affordable homeownership options for working San Diego families, knowing that safe, affordable homeownership has the power to transform lives. Here’s how we’ve achieved this:

Constructing Affordable Homes:
San Diego Habitat for Humanity constructs and renovates homes with the help of volunteer labor and donations. These homes are sold to qualified buyers at a price they can afford, helping to significantly lower the financial barriers to homeownership.

Sweat Equity:
Future Habitat homeowners invest “sweat equity” by working alongside volunteers to build their homes, not only reducing construction costs but also fostering a sense of pride and ownership.

Building Community:
San Diego Habitat for Humanity strengthens community ties by bringing together future homeowners, volunteers, corporate partners, and local supporters in the building process. This collective effort signifies an investment by the entire community, forging deeper partnerships.
