This holiday season, many of us are reflecting on what we’re grateful for and one thing on San Diego Habitat’s list is our longtime partnership with Guild Mortgage! Guild Mortgage is a growth-oriented mortgage company with a mission of delivering the promise of homeownership in neighborhoods and communities across the U.S. Guild was founded in 1960 by Martin Gleich and has grown from a single office in San Diego to nearly 4,000 employees and approximately 200 retail branches in 31 states. Guild is currently led by CEO Mary Ann McGarry, who began working for the company in the 1980s.
Guild has a long history of devotion to the communities in which their employees live and work. They support dozens of local and national charities through direct donations and company-supported volunteer hours. They have been building with San Diego Habitat since 2014, and their employees have contributed thousands of dollars in donations and hundreds of volunteer hours in that time.
This year, in celebration of the company’s 60th anniversary, Guild wanted to make an even bigger contribution in their hometown. We are ever grateful for their $250,000 donation sponsoring one of the homes in our newest Encinitas community. The leadership team joined us to break ground on the site in early March and, though the pandemic thwarted plans to host Guild volunteers at the job site for several months, we have finally been able to welcome a few employees on the site to build with us.
We’re sending a big thank you this holiday season to Guild Mortgage for their generosity and their commitment to providing access to homeownership both through their business practices and through their philanthropy.
