This week, we broke ground at our newest affordable housing community in Logan Heights! The 11 new homes are being built in partnership with the City of San Diego, District 8 City Councilmember David Alvarez, and the San Diego Housing Commission.
The houses will be built mostly by Habitat’s army of about 7,000 annual volunteers working alongside the future homeowners, who commit to build and buy their own homes, as part of their partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The 1,300-1,400 square foot homes will have 3 and 4-bedrooms, 2-car garages, private yards, drought-tolerant landscaping, and energy efficient appliances and plumbing fixtures.
Habitat is honored to have the support of BRIDGE Housing, the MAAC Project, the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education, and many generous sponsors such as The Home Depot, TD Ameritrade, Wells Fargo, Realty Income, and JP Morgan Chase.
Completion of the first phase, which includes 4 homes, is expected mid-2018, with completion of all 11 homes by late 2019. Click here to see a rendering of the new community.
