Wendy and her son Isaiah (16) have lived in an old, small, two-bedroom apartment for the past six years. Wendy’s mother, Griselda, who is blind, recently came to live with them, and sleeps on the sofa in the living room.
Wendy has a good, steady job in customer service at Atlas Transfer & Storage Company. However, as a single mom supporting her child and her disabled mother, a home of her own was beyond her reach, until she found Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program. “My future goals include being able to provide for my family, live happily, and continue to advance in my career. Becoming a homeowner is my biggest dream,” says Wendy. Isaiah plays football at his high school and enjoys building computers in his free time.
Wendy and her family are excited to begin their partnership with Habitat. Isaiah and Wendy spent a lot of time in the Escondido ReStore working on their sweat equity.
