We are thrilled to share a momentous achievement in our journey towards affordable housing. San Diego Habitat is proud to announce the successful repayment of the $1.8 million Homebuilding Investment Fund I, marking a significant milestone in our financial stewardship. Launched in 2018, this fund mobilized over $2 million from philanthropic investors and donors to support the construction of 27 homes across four developments, providing low-income families in San Diego County with stable and secure housing.
Building on the success of Homebuilding Investment Fund I, this past fall 2023, we announced an expanded investment from Mission Driven Finance and unveiled Homebuilding Investment Fund II. This second fund is anchored by the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego, following a donor’s remarkable recommendation of a catalytic $3M, 0% investment. This significant tool will empower us to create more affordable homeownership opportunities for families throughout San Diego County.
