Last month, over 50 people — from donors and volunteers to local elected officials — gathered at Habitat’s newest 10-home site in Escondido to raise the very first wall at our El Norte Parkway community. Attendees got the opportunity to participate in one of our favorite traditions — filling the newly-raised wall with signatures and words of encouragement for the future homeowners. It’s a reminder that even more than wood or concrete, Habitat homes are made with love. We know that affordable homeownership will soon change the lives of ten local families and bring them hope for the future.
Unfortunately, delays caused by COVID-19 and continually increasing costs of building materials and supplies has significantly increased the cost to build since pre-development work began in 2019.
